Above is an excerpt of an amazing set of work by Chris Jordan. He takes iconic things from everyday American living and makes them into visual statements about our materialism/consumerism. He uses statistics to do it. Be sure you focus on the SIZE of these pieces... most are more than 5 feet long.

Topics include aluminum can use (above) - we use 106,000 aluminum cans every thirty seconds - prison uniforms (to indicate the # of incarcerated individuals), gas caps to stand for how many SUVs were purchased in 2004, etc.
